Philgrimm, Thanksgiving Pilgrim Pumpkin Man, My First Finished Polymer Clay Piece

Oh boy, a new art doll adventure and a fun one for sure. I have never really taken a good look at polymer clay, as I didn't like the baking process, but I was given some tips by some folks I met at Hallowbaloo, and found out it isn't as bad as I thought. So, I wanted to create something for Thanksgiving as I feel it's a much forgotten holiday, but one that is so important because its a time of celebrating harvest, family and our blessings from God. I hope to make some more, but am waiting on an oven here in Utah. This handsome fella is available at:    MothersDreamRtworks

Oh the joy of listing an item on ebay and having it sell right away! Printed on very high quality heavy duty gloss finish paper, with very high quality ink, this is the last of the series I had printed from the original painting I did. I only have one of the prints left of the above painting so head on over fast to snag this! Prim Pumpkin Pear Print
A sweet and woodsy gourd Santa, hand sculpted and painted with layers of paints, this little fella is also available here: Northwoods Dreaming Santa

Smiling Jack will talk no smack, he keeps on smiling, that's a fact!

It doesn't matter, it's okay, if you need a smile he'll send one your way!

Autumn is slowly wrapping us in her glow....

As a gardener I tend to check the weather forecast regularly. I first became obsessed with the weather when we lived in North Pole, Alaska. I looked for the first day to plant, and the latest I could leave things out without losing anything to frost. By the end of August we had usually had a hard frost, so anything in the garden not covered well looked like something from an alien movie. Green slimy leaves, and wilted plants told the story all too well. I can still smell the high bush cranberries, and the Labrador tea, and see the Midas touch on the birch tree leaves, mixed with the vivid red of the Fireweed. By this time it can be so cold that snow threatens any day. I see that this year they are having an Indian Summer as they are basking in mid 60 temps until next weekend.
Back to Utah though, although it will be 89 degrees today, by next week we are looking at mid 70's temps. The nights have been cooler; my one lonely apple on my columnar apple tree is huge and red. The light comes through the window at a different angle and everything seems to be touched by a sort of golden glow. The wild sunflowers are in full glory, and the hills are tinged with a purple hue come evening. Mornings are cool and comfortable for exercise, and the smell of baked desert soil is going away to be replaced by a sweet freshness.
We are also getting ready for the big car and air show here in Wendover and the weather is critical for pulling off a successful event. It appears that we will have a nice sunny day for the show, not too hot, and perfect. We are keeping our fingers crossed as things can change in a week, but so far all looks good.
I love this time of year and how it inspires me artistically. The painting above was one done back in 2006, but is timeless in it's appeal. I will be creating new paintings of a similar style this weekend and hope to post them. In the meantime I have 3 prints of this painting being offered at my etsy shop right now so if you have a moment, won't you stop by and take a look? Here's to a great and restful weekend for us all.

Candy, Candy anyone???

I can't decide what holiday I want to work on right now, so Americana is always a good one! Covers 4th of July, Memorial Day, President's Day, and so on. And why not? We live in the best nation in the world! So here's a candy cup sailor boy for all you patriotic folks out there.
Inspired by a great artisan, David of Chicken Lips Studios, who is the master at this, I created a little JOL candy cup. These are a lot harder than they look to create, so I probably won't be doing too many, but I do want to try a cat, a bat and an owl. Have you taken the time to check out the AHA blog lately? We sure have some talented folks over there!

Sharing a new purchase from Chicken Lips Studios

I love getting packages and this one was no different! I was lucky enough to drop by Chicken Lips Studios in time to find this adorably fun piece up for grabs. So I ran over to etsy and snatched him up before anyone else could. If you would like to see a better photo click on this one, and get a better view. If I were you, I'd be watching for more of these! David is one of our wonderful AHA artists and we are glad to have him with us!
