Black Americana Uncle Sam Gourd Doll

Feeling a bit patriotic lately, Spring hasn't quite caught up with me yet. So here's my first offering of my Americana gourd folk art. I really love working with banana gourds, so I will have to get some more. This fella started out to be just an average ole white Uncle Sam, but once I got his hair done, he just didn't look like a white boy....lol. He is much more handsome as a black Uncle Sam, so there you go! You can find him on ebay right now.

Honoring our veterans

War is never a pleasant or welcome event, but there are times when we have to do the hard thing to protect freedom. I'm so grateful to all those who have spent time in the Armed Forces, especially those who have gone to war. I hope the memories have faded so that you can enjoy the time you have now with family and loved ones. For those of you still serving,  may the Lord bless and keep you through these trials, and may your families be protected and comforted while you are away. May the sacrifice you make not go unnoticed. Thank you!

Celebrate America!

It's time to celebrate a new year and new president. Whether you voted for or against the incoming president we all have the opportunity to see history in the making. Many did not expect to see this upcoming day, when we would vote a black man into the office of the presidency, but I say, why not?! We are supposed to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. No matter who they are, what their ideology is, it takes a certain amount of bravery to run for office in this day and age. So let's say thanks to the out going president for his efforts to keep us safe and secure, and thanks to the new president to be for being willing to tackle such a huge mountain of tasks that will come his way. In my efforts to get into the mood of the celebration I've created this Primitive Black Americana Uncle Sam. He stands 27" tall, so he would make an impressive addition to your Americana collection. Find him on ebay today.
