 August has arrived with an outlook for back to school and fun holiday times just around the corner. Soooo, I pulled out my gourd collection, which is growing by leaps and bounds, and found this lovely lady just waiting to be brought to life. A gourdeous pumpkin witch isn't she?

What can you do with a burned out light bulb?

 

Make a White Rabbit of course! I guess you could say he has an inner light ready to come forth, or not...:-) Some day I may stop playing with light bulbs, but probably not until they have been banished into obscurity. Until then, the skies the limit and each light bulb has his own character waiting to shine through. This winsome fellow can be found on EBAY

Bountiful Santa and a Victorian inspired Santa or Two

I won't tell what this tall fellow started out to be, because the Santa in him was screaming to get out. He was so traumatized, he wouldn't talk to me for the longest time, but all is forgiven since I've finished him. He stands at 21" tall, and holds a bounty of vintage and antique fruits, some of which I gleaned at sales, others from Blumchens.

He has been dusted with vintage mica "snow" which adds a touch of sparkle to his appearance. Bountiful Santa is also willing to share the limelight with his friend Victorian Santa.

 

 I love Victorian ephemera images of Santa Claus! There is one in particular that inspired the colors I used for this fella. I wasn't trying to copy him, even though the original is quite handsome.  Some day I want to  

create a Santa doll just like what I see here. I love this face and the colors. 
This fella isn't too bad either though. He has twinkly eyes,a warm color, plus the texture on his coat was fun to create. 

So there I was one morning taking a shower and I spotted this cool little bottle my husband had brought home from a business trip to Vegas. I saw a Santa staring back at me, waiting to be brought to life. Caesar's Palace has the neatest shape for their shampoo and conditioner bottles! So he is done, and there's another one waiting to come to life. This is my Twinkle Star Santa. 

Well I'm off to finish laundry, find my kitchen table again, and work on more "stuff"! Have a great weekend all.

WIP Candy Cane Santa almost done....

Slow going here as my time has been really limited but I'm determined to get ahead and stay ahead. So here he is, a very fun, but difficult to paint Santa as trying to get around those curves is challenging. I still need to antique and seal him, but other than that, he is done! Whew! Frosty friends

There's a chill in the air, and snow is on it's way soon enough. These handsome fellas have dressed for the occasion with their stocking caps, and warm wraps. The first jolly gentleman has a pocket made of clay that I textured to look like waffle weave fabric. His pocket is filled with antique fruits from Blumchens, cinnamon sticks, pipe cleaner candy canes I twisted my self, and glittered "pinion" branches. He is dusted with vintage mica flakes and sparkly teeny tiny glitter. He is a large fellow, standing 12" tall.

The second snowman is the same height, and carries a feather tree from Blumchens, as well as the fruit and leaf embellisments on his hat. He has also been dusted with vintage mica flakes and sparkly glitter. You can click on their photos to find them up for purchase or auction.

Okay, I know it's a bit early for snow, especially since the leaves are just now starting to turn here, but this frosty fella couldn't wait to be introduced. He's all buttoned up and snuggly in his fur ruff and cap, and is patiently waiting the first sign of snow. He reminds me of fun times in North Pole, Alaska when we would go out cross country skiing, or out to find wood and then come home to a cup of hot cider or cocoa.
