I'm starting to get in the groove for Halloween shows now, and am having more fun than a person has a right to! Above is a raven done in acrylics on an 8 x 10 gallery wrap canvas.
Here's a whimsical night time man in the moon scene, with jack o' lanterns on three sides, shining in the light of the moon.
For those who live in the Seattle area you can join us for Hallowbaloo September 15, 2018. Click here for more information: HALLOWBALOO
If you live in California, Petaluma has a wonderful Halloween show, that's been the standard other shows are modeled after, All Hallow's Art Fest. For more information click here: ALL HALLOW'S ART FEST
Hope to see you at one of these shows!

PFATT Marketplace Is Brimming with Love and Springtime
I shot right past Valentines Day this year and into spring because it's been a rather warm and even somewhat greening winter. Okay, maybe greening isn't a real word, hmmm or is it? Regardless, I was in the mood for some different adventures in creativity.
I love re-purposing vintage finds, such as the Chickidoo's basket, which is a vintage jello mold, all gussied up with paint and tiny pink pom trim. Shaker Bunny is just that, a vintage milk glass salt shaker, with hand sculpted bunny head, scalloped trims, tinsel garland and flocked blossoms. For more information come on over to the PFATT Marketplace.

Primitive Folk Art Americana Santa
My grandchildren like stuff, all sorts of stuff, including things to flavor their water. When they were here a couple of summers ago their mom bought them a drink flavoring in a tiny bottle that just spoke Santa to me. I know, I'm rather weird like that. So out came the clay, and within an hour or two of sculpting, the Santa came to be. He's available at ETSY

Fall Into the Holidays - A Thanksgiving Santa
I really wanted to give this santa a warm and inviting look for the holidays. He's suitable for year round display, with his plaid coat and handsome looks. He's perfect for a cabin in the woods, or palatial log home, or even a Northwoods cottage. You can find this handsome Santa at MothersDreamRtworks

Another Reason to Fall Into the Holidays
Autumn lives in our community right now.
Golden carpets soften once verdant lawns,
sidewalks yield to crispy piles of leaves.
The mountains streaked with stripes of yellow and rust,
among forest pinacles....
stand in contrast to the pastel skies above.
Another Santa awaits a new home, perfect for decorating throughout the rest of the year.
Why not learn more about him at MothersDreamRtworks

Buford Jack has a slightly wicked smirk on his face as he plans his Halloween shenanigans. Hand sculpted features on a cured gourd, he's a one of a kind JOL that will be the talk of the home. I hear some of my creations tend to move around on their own, so be aware, he's a sneaky fella. You can purchase him at MothersDreamRtWorks

FALL INTO THE HOLIDAYS
GORDY GOURD PUMPKIN ORNAMENT
A bit of clay and a lot of magic went into creating Gordy. Warts and all, he's a loveable guy,
ready to hang out on your Halloween tree with the rest of the spooks. Find him here MothersDreamRtWorks
One of my favorite Santas to create, Victorian Dreams Santa did a bit of traveling, including a stint at the Utah State Fair, when I was demonstrating my sculpting skills for the Creative Arts Exhibit. I love his textured coat, and he certainly has a winsome smile. A Santa to melt the hearts of all who see him. He's also available here MothersDreamRtWorks
There's more to come in my etsy shop, as well as a possible piece or two on ebay. So lets FALL INTO THE HOLIDAYS TOGETHER!

WVFA Animal Farm or Art or Something Like That....lol
It's been a regular farm around here, with all the comings and goings and new critters, planting, and already harvesting, art shows, and poster designs to create and the list goes on! I managed to squeeze some time to paint this little lamb above, for the Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts. It was touch and go, and I missed the original deadline due to all the goings on, but I managed to beat the extended deadline by a couple of days, whew! It's painted in acrylics, still my medium of choice. I'm dabbling in oils, but I love acrylics, probably because there are no chemicals. No matter, this piece is waiting to find out if it's been juried into the show.
This piece was extra fun to create! I used my mixed media technique of slathering texturing compound on my base board, and then I tried to sculpt using the joint compound and that was a no go. So I sanded that down and brought out my trusty Creative Paperclay to hand sculpt bass reliefs of the horses heads. Using a base paint, I smooshed that around the piece, then sealed and then meticulously added layers of metallic colors, wiping here and there to add dimension and interest. I was actually surprised at how it turned out, and happy as well. Soooo, now the wait to find out if either of my pieces has been accepted. I guess I could go sneak a peek, huh?! Hold on, I'll go look.... aaaah, still in round one of the jury process so I will keep you posted. Well, off I go to my Simply Sheryl's blog to post about my latest gardening ventures. Have a great week!

Spring Greenery
It has been an exceptionally blustery and snowy winter here in the NE corner of Oregon. The old timers all say that this is what winters used to be like, and I take my hat off to them as they are still here. Not that I'm complaining, I rather like deep piles of snow, and even enjoy shoveling the driveway on occasion. This year though, we've sustained roof damage due to ice build up. We've learned some thing about being better prepared, and except for getting that all wheel drive vehicle, we should be ready for whatever mother nature throws at us next year. Nature Guy has already informed me that we probably won't ever see a winter like this again, especially if we get a more suitable car, but we shall see.
So the point of all that is that I see a lot of people counting the days until spring in their Facebook posts. In the spirit of that, and the Pantone color of the year, which is spring greenery, I created a mixed media art piece full of brightness and spring green. We've had our share of winter storms blow through so I wasn't able to get photos that quite do the piece justice, but I hope you can see the potential to brighten up your home. This piece is available now.

Owl the Love In the World
Maybe a Rose
I would buy you a castle in Spain
A tiara, a sports car, a plane
But I don't have those
So maybe the rose
Serves to echo my loving refrain.

WIPS dancing around on my table today.....
Some folk just don't like being tickled, even if it's unintentional, but others love to laugh. So you can tell who thought the paint brush tickling and pushing paint around on them was fun, and who is just a grump. I'm not sure the fella in front will get finished if he keeps glaring at me that way. I may just put him on the shelf until he has a better attitude. For now, the work continues as I get ready for another PFATT Marketplace debut for August. Will post finished work so check back soon!
