Spring Greenery
It has been an exceptionally blustery and snowy winter here in the NE corner of Oregon. The old timers all say that this is what winters used to be like, and I take my hat off to them as they are still here. Not that I'm complaining, I rather like deep piles of snow, and even enjoy shoveling the driveway on occasion. This year though, we've sustained roof damage due to ice build up. We've learned some thing about being better prepared, and except for getting that all wheel drive vehicle, we should be ready for whatever mother nature throws at us next year. Nature Guy has already informed me that we probably won't ever see a winter like this again, especially if we get a more suitable car, but we shall see.
So the point of all that is that I see a lot of people counting the days until spring in their Facebook posts. In the spirit of that, and the Pantone color of the year, which is spring greenery, I created a mixed media art piece full of brightness and spring green. We've had our share of winter storms blow through so I wasn't able to get photos that quite do the piece justice, but I hope you can see the potential to brighten up your home. This piece is available now.

Hearts and Flowers
A little Valentine Funny for the ageless...
I've
sent texts.
And I've called.
But you just don't
comprehend.
I want you to be my Valentine,
And, not just a
Facebook Friend.

Rainbow Sherbet Available at PFATT Marketplace
I'm feeling the Springtime fever and it shows in this little textured abstract full of whimsey and life. I wish I could share the colors of this piece better, am working on that, but know that the colors are lime and raspberry and orange sherbet all rolled into one. Framed in an 8" by 10" black frame, this piece is signed and dated and can be found at PFATT MARKETPLACE.

Virtue.... a finished WIP
I'm still in my jammies as I have been working on this and getting the photos and entry done, whew! I can go on vacation with peace of mind now. At 32 inches tall, she is the tallest/largest sculpt I've done to date. She is made from a total of 5 gourds, one for the body and two for each of the arms. No baby though. I had to remove the baby as it was looking more like a cocoon from outer space than a child, even a folk art one...lol. This is a bit different than I had planned for her dress as well, but sometimes things change as we go along. Now, to wait and see if I've been accepted.
Here's a closer look at her base. I tried to achieve a turquoise stone look to the panels on her dress. I hope that will show up in person. Photos are hard to take here.
Another one of my entries for the Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts. A mixed media abstract.
I know I've shared this before as well, but here's "Who's Chicken?" again. Now the waiting begins. Will I be accepted? I hope so as I'm supposed to demo my sculpting and I usually volunteer to help. I do enjoy this show, but will be looking for others to enter as well. They are great experiences and you can get good feedback on where you need to improve. If you haven't entered a juried show before I urge you to give it a try. You never know!

Americana jewelry and art for Spring at American Holiday Artists Studios & Marketplace
Before you know it summer will be here and fireworks will be lighting up the sky. At least it's supposed to although you can't tell by the weather. I did hear that the meteorologists are saying warm weather is on it's way so it's time to think summer clothes and how to dress up your favorite outfits.
I've created a bracelet and earrings suitable for any nautical or patriotic themed ensemble from gorgeous glass beads.
Another mixed media art piece, created on a wooden scoop. I used stamps, vintage buttons and other tools to create the texture on this piece. I then used layers of paint and sealer to create the color for this piece. A one of a kind original, you can find this at American Holiday Artists Studios & Marketplace

Abstract Art- Challenging Myself...
Awhile back Alyice Edrich of The Dabbling Mum shared a youtube video of work by Paul Bozzo. It was fascinating to me how he put his pieces together so I decided to try my hand at his technique. My first piece warped as I used a bare canvas, but this one didn't as I used a piece of standard board which is a type of lightweight sheet rock. It's easy to cut, and easy to work with.
Then I gathered stamps, doilies, and tools to create texture just as Paul does. I took a different approach than he, more a spring time theme for the fun of it. It was a blast to try this, and I may do more, perhaps with different themes. Layering the paint and sealer was also interesting as I like bold color but am still learning the whole "what comes first" thing. It's different for different media, some you would start light to dark, others dark to light and this ended up being a bit of both.
I would sure love some feedback on this and how it turned out. Thanks for stopping by. :-)

More Painting
There's more to painting than just having a canvas and paints. Texture, layout, color and design all play an integral part on a good painting. The fun of painting is finding out what you can do in that regard. Or trying to work outside your normal comfort zone. These are just a couple stabs at these ideas.

Had to Paint Today
There are days when I just need to paint. I can't think of anything else to do but paint and so that's what I did. After mowing the lawn and shoveling gravel I pulled out the canvases and then some ideas that I'd saved. The lighting in my home isn't the best for photography so I took two. The bottom photo best reflects the true colors although the background in the top is my true to the painting. Have you ever noticed that purple doesn't seem to photograph very well? At least that's been my experience. I started with a cowboy and hat, then went to an Indian chief, but neither was working for the size of the canvas I was using so I did this one instead. A stab at abstract, which is fun to do on occasion. I love bright and bold so here it is!

I'll give you a daisy a day dear.....
Even though it's threatening to snow outside, again, I was inspired to create this as a tribute to the upcoming Summer months. I love Shasta daisies; they are so prolific here in Wallowa Valley that they create mini carpets of green and white here and there along the slopes. They are tall and dance in the breezes that drift across the valley floor. This piece is available now.
